I'm 13 and i watched this film when it was in the cinema with a group of friends : They hid!! I watched it all. There is NO bad language, NO sex scenes or references. Arthur Kipps Daniel Radcliffe does have a couple of drinks but NO drugs or smoking, there is little violence but its not gory more scary but it is a horror : Arthur is a fine role model, constantly looking after children and is very polite.
Daniel Radcliffe is an amazing actor as is the story. One of my first horror film, was amazing and my 10 year old brother watched it again with me at home, he loved it! This title contains: Positive role models. This review Helped me decide 1. Had useful details 1. Read my mind 1. Report this review. Kid, 12 years old February 4, I've found that during these sorts of movies, I should bring a pen and paper into the theater, and write down what I think, which is just what I did for this movie.
So here is what I thought and proceeded to write down: -WOW! The expressional wind up toys are kind of funny! As you can tell, I use humor to get through a lot of scary things. But here's my honest opinion: I liked the movie. It's not TOO scary.
But at times, yes indeed, it makes you jump. I honestly found the scary parts in the movie to be the grody parts. I found some of the scenes to be rather than genuinely "scary" a little on the icky side. I don't know who's agreeing with me here, but I don't find muddy brown, screaming ghosts very pleasant to watch. The woman in black, when she appears, is pretty frightening. There are scenes in the movie towards the end where the ghost is flying towards you, screaming, that wasn't very nice to watch, but I pulled through.
Overall, if the kid is mature, 11 years old would be a pretty realistic age to be able watch this movie. At least, I think so. This title contains: Positive Messages. Had useful details. Read my mind 2. Kid, 11 years old June 12, Helped me decide. Amazing It's an amazing saw it with mate yesterday unmissable no gory bloody scenes or visual violence and about love and what people do for it quite scary though 11 and up.
Positive role models. Kid, 12 years old May 29, Woman in Black not for the easily scared and not for under 13s! The Woman in Black is one of those films that you can't watch alone, it is creepy, dark but boy, is it good!
The strength of the film is that she appears every so often, in a a corner, in the garden but it is not until later in the film that she shows her grotesque face. At the beginning of the film, there is lots of detail and talking because they are setting the scene so it is quite slow and dull but i advise not to skip until the good bits because you won't get what is going on and why the woman is there!
Right at the beginning of the film, three little girls jump out of a window. Later on in the film, there are two more deaths including a girl drinking lye and throwing up blood and a girl burning herself in a basement! The scary thing is that SHE is always there! She instructs them to do it!!!!!!!!
You will be shocked what happens at the end of the film! PARENTS: If you let your child watch this, don't let them watch the film later than pm or pm because some children might have nightmares!
Daniel Radcliffe is a very good. Read my mind. Kid, 12 years old February 8, It only Depends Im a tween addicted to horror movies so it depends on the maturity o the child BUT do not bring 6 year olds or younger. If you are concerned about the movie read the book, but quickly or read notes online. I have seen atually scary films such as Paranomal Activty 3, that one scared me for life.
The Woman in Black is Great. Teen, 14 years old Written by AT May 7, Great starter horror film This movie was not very scary to me but it was very suspenseful. It does talk about suicide and shows just before they die in some cases. It is definitely too mature for younger kids but it is great for older kids. You have to pay attention to the movie and you cannot give it half your thought to understand. Great movie overall though. Teen, 14 years old Written by Moviereviewer April 10, Great movie It was a very good movie!
Teen, 16 years old Written by Showman movie13 March 21, Creepy scenes with some violence Not recommended for young ones. This really frightened me; but it was quite good.
I think this is the best Horror movie for teens to start with. Teen, 16 years old Written by LauraKinney March 16, Great movie! This movie, for starters, is super suspenseful. The entire time I watched this movie, I was dreading seeing the Woman in Black. Her face terrifies the crap out of me, and I was just waiting for that dreaded jumpscare! I only screamed twice, but the movie was still super freaky. Note: a lot of children die. If you or your child isn't good with that, then I don't recommend this movie.
Kid, 9 years old February 25, The movie follows Daniel Radcliffe investigating a haunted house by the marsh.
Now this movie is violent but 9 years olds will be fine with it. Teen, 17 years old Written by murdojack December 7, I was very disappointed that this was no where near as good as the book There are disturbing parts- people lighting themselves on fire, someone coughs up lots of blood, and a lot of physiological threat. Three young girls also jump out a window. A woman is shown hanging from the roof.
Worth watching, definitely but the book is better. Just saying. Teen, 16 years old Written by Barraffney Creations October 25, Harry Potter 8??
Kid reviews for The Woman in Black
The Woman In Black is a film version of the ghost story by Susan Hill, written in the style of a traditional gothic novel. The first version of the British made film was submitted for classification to the BBFC for an advice viewing in , with a 12A category request. The BBFC considered the film to be on the border between the 12A and 15 categories, because of the number of scenes of supernatural horror and threat in which the ghost of the 'woman in black', plus the ghosts of her victims, appear to and threaten the central character and others.

The British Board of Film Classification has rewritten its guidelines on horror movies after consulting members of the public. New rules on classification will come into force next month, partly inspired by the large number of complaints made over the Daniel Radcliffe chiller The Woman in Black two years ago. BBFC assistant director David Austin told the BBC that filmgoers were increasingly concerned over the "tone" and "theme" of horror movies, as well as the amount of gore shown on screen. The Woman in Black , a ghost story, was awarded a 12A certificate by the board, prompting complaints, the largest number in
A classic ghost story: the chilling tale of a menacing specter haunting a small English town. Arthur Kipps is an up-and-coming London solicitor who is sent to Crythin Gifford—a faraway town in the windswept salt marshes beyond Nine Lives Causeway—to attend the funeral and settle the affairs of a client, Mrs. Alice Drablow of Eel Marsh House. On a crisp Christmas eve, the elderly Arthur Kipps rests contentedly in front of a roaring fire, surrounded by his stepchildren and loving wife Esme. It is only now, after so many years, that Arthur puts his pen to paper and tells the story that haunts him — the story that keeps him up at night shaking with terror, the reason for his distress this Christmas night.
